I have witnessed this on Rt.55, west of Strasburg

Ticket every single one. No warnings.

Is there a form that citizens can send in with information on violators? I know Newport News had one and I've used it to report drivers that fail to stop. They're contacted to emphasize to them that they need to stop for school buses.

Busses should get a dash cam. There is no reason for drivers to be doing this!

once you hit a child its to late, SLOW DOWN AND PAY ATTENTION

This is a good reason to consider cameras on the buses to capture violators image.

When this happens at the Schools and the School Resource Officers are present and in the area they should be enforcing and writing tickets. JMO. Also adding cameras would be a great asset to correct the issue.

Should put some type of camera on the bus like they do in traffic lights, when the lights turn red and you decide to run it, it will capture a picture of you! Or give them a camera to monitor the roads and drivers around them. If we had enough police I’d say have several follow several buses, as be the first one behind the bus, and when the other drivers fail to stop then boom the cop can get them!

This is pure ignorance on the driver to think that it's ok to pass a school bus with children on it. Plus if they are letting a child off.

We have driver's out there that don't know what going on,and can't read the signs but they get a driver's licences.

Hope it’s not from a certain bus driver. Two years ago while I was in school and driving to work, in the middle of Woodstock a school bus put on YELLOW lights like 50 feet before I was going to pass it. So I decided not to stop because (he hadn’t slowed down much yet, they were just turned on, I could have wrecked with the car behind me due to slamming on my breaks and I still wouldn’t have a safe distance from the bus) but this bus driver honked and had his phone out (while still driving) and yelling at me saying I have to stop. I said “you have your yellows on and haven’t stopped! I slammed on my breaks and I’m still next to you!” So hopefully that isn’t the guy reporting this because he is false and just wants attention.

Three fingers for the first offense, hand at the wrist for the second. If we did this for drunk driving, littering, and passing stopped buses, we would have cleaner and safer roads.

May be a good idea to require a written test every so many years!! Why are some people so ignorant? While I'm on the subject, many drivers don't know how to make a left turn properly.

I had a confounding experience recently near my house in Smithfield. A school bus stopped in front of me, but the bus driver did not turn on the flashing lights or extend the stop sign. I waited for several seconds as I watched a parent walking toward the bus. I thought maybe the driver was delivering a forgotten backpack, so I decided to drive around the bus. As I passed the bus, the parent started screaming at me. I screamed back that the lights weren't on and the stop sign wasn't out. I looked back just in time to see the bus driver turn on the flashing lights and extend the stop sign. At first, I was angry. I felt the bus driver had set me up to fail. I now suspect that the bus driver wanted to give me a chance to get around the bus. It was a short bus with a wheelchair lift. I suspect the driver knew that it would take a couple of minutes to get the child off the bus, so he wanted to give traffic a chance to pass.

Definitely our Children are more important than any reason someone could possibly have for racing around these buses or not stopping.... please everyone STOP... every time!

Cams on the buses, and a 1000 dollar fine.

Just witnessed last week on 42 heading into Woodstock. Vehicle ahead of me clearly had no intentions on stopping and even seemed to speed up. Thankfully bus driver laid it's horn on and did not open it's doors for the child to exit the bus. The mom had a death stare on the driver, which i would have too!

I agree

I noticed same of the bus put the yellow light on then stop i think the bus needs to put the yellow light on before they stop

Why is this a thing now? Everyone needs to think more.

We need the cameras!

They can put cameras on the buses

if you have a complaint call state police sheriffs office to busy and under staffed to help wont run radar on fair view road so figured they wont do anything about this just to busy

Need to install cameras on buses and for passing a bus it should be loss of license for 1 year, 1 Year in jail and a 5000 fine . These are someone’s kids grandkids etc. There is NO REASON to pass a school bus with flags out

I know you'd think big yellow buses would be visible but they need updated warning lights and signs. Look at warning lights on emergency vehicles. Buses are behind the times in this regard. They also need to have chevron's on the rear for better visablity.

Today the Criminal Justice Class at Triplett Tech visited the Law Enforcement Museum and Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C. Deputy Dove was fortunate enough to accompany the class and represent Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office. The trip was very educational and fun for the class, everyone enjoyed the experience. Students were able to see memorabilia from early days of law enforcement, try their skills at different decision making simulators, and visit the memorial to locate the names of fallen officers they researched for a memorial research project. While at the memorial, Deputy Dove located the name of Samuel Arthur Funkhouser, Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office only line of duty death March 7, 1927. Funkhouser was responding to a domestic dispute when a man at the scene shot him in the neck. Funkhouser's name can be located on the Law Enforcement Memorial Wall at location 9W line 28.

While at the museum and memorial, WHSV channel 3 was on location to film the trip and interview students. The trip will be aired tonight.

Deputy Dove, Triplett Tech, and the Criminal Justice Students would like to thank Orville Smoot and Valley Fertilizer in Mount Jackson for sponsoring the trip and covering the fee for everyone to attend.

Its the drugs. And the lack of eduction and proper parenting. Doesn’t make any of them less guilty. Explains the psychology behind the behavior

Good job

Omg kevin wayne i see why tjs getting in all this trouble please get your life together man you look like death wtf

it's not the drugs, its the person. its not the gun, its the person, its not the car, its the person. stop blaming inanimate objects, its the people.

Poss of ammunition is not a charge! I beat that twice!!

It's NOT the people... I wish people knew .. what drugs actually do.. once addicted.. Kevin I hope and pray you get yourself together man.. BRITTANY , KEVIN , ... Your kids man need you!! And remember everyone has family , even addicts. Praying for you.

And until you walk the hands of addiction , or watch someone you love.. go through it ( and some of us have lost people to the fight..) you'll never understand, on a personal level. 💯💯

Prayers

You put an addict on probation without the help they need and expect a different result. That's the insane part. Until we admit as a society that drug addiction is no different then any other addiction, this will continue

Tiffany Freeman Lindsey Stroop how have I never known paraphernalia has an “r” in it? I can’t stop giggling now

Good work!

Good Job , keep locking them up , Keep hard Drugs off the streets of Shenandoah County. Beat the hell out of them on the way to jail . Send a massage to them you get caught in this County you get a good beat down.

Good for him

conviction history is more than i care to weed through and post

Thank you

Nothing in the world is preventing all these bleeding hearts posting on here from getting out from behind their keyboards and banding together to put in place a treatment program and seeking funding, except they prefer to virtue signal from their keyboards, cause its a lot less effort.

I'm from KY and received one about a week ago but gave a completely different number.

Yes, I've been getting them for at least a year now. It would be nice to see the FBI opening a case on this issue and ... news outlets televising the arrests. Fraudulent activities are getting out of hand.

i’ve gotten 4 of these in the last 3 days. states my ssn was suspended due to suspicious activity and when i call the number back that it leaves, says it’s no longer in service. figured it was a scam of some sort. next time i’ll answer the phone and let my 2 year old handle them.

I get this call alot

Kayla Dean

I got one last week, he started off saying this is about your Social Security number, said it has legal action taken on it and I was under investigation!!! The number was different ---213-600-7612--- He did not say anybody's name and he did not say he was from Social Security office!!

I got one and at first it sounded legit and I was try to figure out what I had done wrong...then I realized it was a hoax.

Jennifer Butler

We have been getting the calls also, don't call the number back. They just want your information.

Do not ever give anyone no matter what they tell you on the phone any of your personal info like credit card number .Tgese phone calls ate scams trying to get money from you.

Students attending Massanutten Regional Governors School at Triplett Tech are conducting a study about the affects on grass by the over grazing of livestock. The students are growing grass and will be trimming it to a determined length at different weekly intervals to simulate livestock grazing versus grass that is not grazed as frequently and can have time to grow.
