I'm amazed Rockbridge didn't score higher- their curriculum is one of the toughest (and most ridiculous) I've ever encountered. I say Rockingham is #1- John Kidd set a standard we still get today. I'm curious as to how these results were figured- based on reviews? If so, why weren't we told/encouraged to participate? One district with a few schools going against 90 some schools in another district?
I'm lost. Many of the kids dont know how to read a clock in High School, and many are not writing cursive. Isn't there something wrong with that picture?

As you drive the Skyline Drive, you will notice many places bearing the names of families. These names tells us about the people who once lived here, as well as their heritage. Overall Run is named for the aristocratic Overall family, whose lineage dates back to medieval England in the 13th century. John Overall came to the Shenandoah Valley before 1740 with a land grant from Alexander Spottswood.
A wave of German settlers moved to the valley beginning in the early 18th century to escape war and religious persecution. With names like Spitler, Muehler (now Miller), and Beahm, these migrants carved out a living in an inhospitable land. Their stories remind us of the complex group of residents who called the mountains home for centuries before it became Shenandoah National Park. ... See MoreSee Less

The county is filled with history around every corner and in June of 1862, gentle rolling farmland turned in to battle grounds similar to this historical sketch from the Battle of Cross Keys from 157 years ago.the Rockingham Register & Virginia Advertiser, 20 June 1862, contained the following report:
“THE WAR IN THE VALLEY.
All eyes are now turned to this once beautiful and happy Valley. It has become the theatre—the immediate scene of some of the most stirring incidents of the bloody revolution now being waged for the defence of our principles, our homes and our firesides. Within the last fortnight it has been literally “the dark and bloody ground,” many of its fair fields having been desolated by the tread and crimsoned with the blood of the invading foe as well as with the life current of some of our noblest kinsmen. No two weeks of the history of the Valley of Virginia have been so full of stirring and startling incidents as the last fortnight.
. . . Hereafter, Rockingham will be known in history as consecrated ground.”
