๐Ÿš˜ ๐Ÿ›‘ โœ‹ ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿšฒ !!!WCFR Releases 3 Part Pedestrian Safety Series

Over the past several months, WCFR has responded to multiple incidents where pedestrians and/or bicyclist have been stuck by a passing motorist. These incidents have resulted in multiple significant injury or loss of life injury outcomes.

The Department encourages all pedestrians, bicyclist and motorist to be cautious when traveling. As such, WCFR will be releasing a 3 part safety tip series on pedestrian, bicyclist and motorist safety.

Know the Basics—Pedestrian Safety, 10 Safety Tips

1) Be predictable. Follow the rules of the road and obey signs and signals.

2) Walk on sidewalks whenever they are available.

3) If there is no sidewalk, walk facing traffic and as far from traffic as possible.

4) Keep alert at all times; don’t be distracted by electronic devices that take your eyes (and ears) off the road.

5) Whenever possible, cross streets at crosswalks or intersections, where drivers expect pedestrians. Look for cars in all directions, including those turning left or right.

6) If a crosswalk or intersection is not available, locate a well-lit area where you have the best view of traffic. Wait for a gap in traffic that allows enough time to cross safely; continue watching for traffic as you cross.

7) Never assume a driver sees you. Make eye contact with drivers as they approach to make sure you are seen.

8)Be visible at all times. Wear bright clothing during the day, and wear reflective materials or use a flashlight at night.

9) Watch for cars entering or exiting driveways, or backing up in parking lots.

10) Avoid alcohol and drugs when walking; they impair your abilities and your judgment.

Can YOU step up?
75 adult kitties waiting for a home. SEVENTY FIVE!!
Others need fosters.... read more below:Our kennels are full!

We have had to turn kittens away because we do not have space or fosters available to help care for these babies.

Please help us say YES. Here's what you can do:

Adopt - we are currently doing an Adopt one, get one special for cats! Help us make room, and get your cat a friend to play with! Dog adoptions are half price.

Foster - kittens under 8 weeks are not suitable for the shelter. They are very susceptible to disease and need a calm, quiet and nurturing environment. Call us if you can help: 540-635-4734. We can walk you through everything!

Donate - these little ones are expensive and we provide all of the supplies a foster might need, including food, litter, bottles, blankets, formula, etc. In addition, when they are old enough, we also will need to vaccinate, deworm, and provide whatever other medical care necessary. Anything will help!

The kittens currently available for adoption are posted here. We have 27 more in foster homes plus 75 adult cats all looking for homes.

I don’t think anything should be paid until the town and county gets its finances correct.we have really paid enough for the craziness and mess we are in . I will not be paying anything until the finances are straightened out . I think we have been taken advantage of long enough time to rebel

Due never would be better for a car that I'm already taxed to buy, taxed to use, taxed to inspect, and taxed to register.

Got to get them first

Has anyone gotten there bill yet in the mail ?

I had just realized the begining of June was coming up and I hadn't gotten my tax bill. Thanks for posting this. Where the powers that be going to bother to keep us in the loop? It just goes with the rest of their fine handling of town money.

The Town of Front Royal Water Treatment Plant was awarded the 2018 GOLD Water Treatment Plant Performance Award for Excellence in Clarification, Filtration and Backwash from the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water.
The mission of the Office of Drinking Water is to protect public health and to encourage Waterworks to provide water with a quality that exceeds minimum regulatory standards and to operate water systems in an exemplary manner.

The Town of Front Royal owns and operates a Water Treatment Plant to ensure a plentiful supply of potable water to its residents and several Warren County customers for human consumption and fire suppression. The Plant is currently rated to supply up to 6.0 million gallons of water per day (MGD). The majority of the Town's water is obtained from the South Fork of the Shenandoah River with additional water coming from Happy Creek and Sloan Creek.

This is the 4th consecutive year being awarded the GOLD Performance Award. THANK YOU to the Water Treatment Plant staff for their hard work and dedication to ensure our water exceeds regulations.

Rex is a big handsome boy looking for a fresh start. We realize that his manners need some work, so we would like to ask our volunteers to consider participating in our GOOD BUDDY program.

Good buddies commit to volunteering 2 days a week, working with their partner dog for 45 minutes each visit. They record progress on their training and socialization each visit, and communicate with staff.

Rex is not the only dog needing a buddy, Ox, Casper, Raven, Friskie and Marley could also benefit from a special friend.

There are 2 requirements for participation: you need to have attended volunteer orientation, AND coordinate a special more detailed training with coc@humanesocietywarrencounty.org

This has been LIFTED!!! ๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง

๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’งDRINKING WATER WARNING: Duck St/Henselstone Area ONLY ๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง

The Town of Front Royalโ€™s water system lost pressure in the distribution system: ๐Ÿ’ง ๐Ÿ’ง ๐Ÿ’ง

Duck Street and Henselstone Area: BOIL YOUR WATER FOR THREE MINUTES BEFORE USING

The Town of Front Royal water system was shut down on
West Duck St due to water break repairs. This led to a loss of pressure in the distribution system, which may cause backpressure, backsiphonage, or a net movement of water from outside the pipe to the inside through cracks, breaks, or joints in the distribution system that are common in all water systems. Such a system failure carries with it a high potential that fecal contamination or other disease-causing organisms could enter the distribution system. These conditions may pose an imminent and substantial health endangerment to persons served by the system.

What should I do? โ€” Duck St/Henselstone Area ONLY

โ€ข DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST: Duck St/Henselstone Area ONLY: Bring all water to a rolling boil for at least (3) three minutes, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. ALL STORED WATER, DRINK OR ICE MADE RECENTLY FROM THIS SUPPLY SHALL
BE DISCARDED.

โ€ข Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms: Duck St/Henselstone Area ONLY These organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites which can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms. They may pose a special health risk for infants, young children, some of the elderly and people with severely compromised immune systems.

โ€ข The symptoms above are not caused only by organisms in drinking water. If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you may want to seek medical advice. People at increased risk should seek advice about drinking water from their health care providers.

What happened? What is being done?

This is due to a water break on West Duck Street and Hensel Stone area. The affected distribution area is being flushed thoroughly and bacteriological samples are being collected. Any drinking water or water used for cooking should be boiled prior to using it. We will notify when all test results are returned.
